Spurs to face defending champions on CL odyssey

After giving Young Boys a good thrashing, Tottenham Hotspur's reward is to face defending champions Inter Milan and Dutch champions FC Twente in their group A Champions league Odyssey.

As third seeds, the presence of Rafa Benitez's side will mean an uphill battle for Spurs to qualify for the last 16. A tricky journey to Werder Bremen also on the itinerary.

Their North London Rivals, Arsenal will have a different kind of problem, long journey's to Partizan Belgrade and Shaktar Donetsk will test Arsene Wengers squad to the full. Portuguese underdogs Braga, who knocked out Celtic and Sevilla in qualifying rounds complete the Gunners group H.

The team everyone wanted to avoid, big spending Real Madrid, will take Jose Mourinho back to the San Siro to face AC Milan. The addition of Ajax as third seeds means that group G competitors have won 20 European Cup's between them. Auxerre look set to make up the numbers here.

English champions Chelsea, like Arsenal will have some distance to travel to face Spartak Moscow, Msk Zilina (Slovakia) and to the Mediterranean to face Ligue 1 champions Marseille.

Manchester United have a 'battle of Britain' on their hands for the fourth time in a decade with Sir Alex Ferguson returning to his old stomping ground, Glasgow Rangers. A weakened Valencia outfit are second seeds, but without David Villa and David Silva the Mestalla will be a little less daunting. Fourth seeds Bursaspor provide the longest round trip, hailing from south of Istanbul. The draw in full is below.

UEFA also handed out their club footballer of the year award. As voted for by the coaches of the teams in the Champions League last 16.
Inter swept the board, with Julio Cesar, Maicon, Wesley Sneijder and Diego Milito lifting the awards for best goalkeeper, defender, midfielder and striker respectively.
